OUR DESIRE
Our desire should not be to isolate ourselves from the world but to use Christ's Word and the Holy Spirit's power to serve Christ while our life lasts. Yet, at the same time, we should not become like the world, succumbing to the evil influences of the world. If we claim to be Christians but don't obey the commandments or the words of our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ, we are then not true Christians, but hypocrites (1 John 2:4-6).
The Lord Jesus said, "If you love Me, keep my commandments" (John 14:15). For "He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father. And I will love him and will reveal Myself to him" (John 14:21). And "If a man loves Me, he will keep My word. My Father will love him, and We will come to him, and make Our home with him" (John 14:23).
Please brethren, "do not forsake the meetings of God's people, as some habitually do . . ." (Hebrews 10:25)! "Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, and against spiritual wickedness in high places" (Ephesians 6:10-12).
